Escape The Corporation

Once you start improving your personal effectiveness, you begin to realise how much a bureaucratic corporation can limit your productivity. This often leads people to explore the idea of striking out on their own as a self-employed contractor or consultant. After all, if you increase your personal effectiveness when you're self-employed, you're the one who directly reaps the benefits!

EscapeTheCorporation.com was started by a husband and wife team who both left IBM to pursue their own interests, and are now living much more happily and following their dreams.

If you're not quite ready to become self-employed, there is also a section of the site devoted to helping you switch jobs to another organization that is more aligned with your personal goals.

Have a look around the site. There are plenty of articles on various aspects of creativity, self growth, beliefs, and more. You can even sign up for their mailing list to be notified of new articles as they become available.

Why Integrity Matters

What is 'integrity', and why does it matter?

This paper is a brief introduction to the concept of integrity, and the consequences for individuals and societies who lack it.

The paper proposes a simple way to test whether you're acting with integrity: How would you feel if your actions were public, and anyone could be watching over your shoulder? If you'd be ashamed of other people finding out what you'd done, it's a pretty strong indication that you're acting against your own moral compass and are just rationalizing it to yourself, saying that nobody will ever know.

If you act with integrity, people will give you trust and respect, and you can deal openly and fairly with them and keep a clear conscience. If you don't act with integrity, you lose control over your own life - people will be less likely to trust you, you won't be able to trust others, and you'll live in constant fear of being caught out.
